Priorities
Nine priorities guide HEAPC’s scope of work and activities:
- Improve educational outcomes among service population youth and young adults.
- Reduction of preventable risks that have been scientifically linked with four broad chronic disease conditions (cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, cancer, diabetes).
- Increased health literacy and knowledge of basic methods to improve personal health (age appropriate medical screening, nutrition, exercise, appropriate condition man- agement).
- Identification and elucidation of socio-cultural determinants of health.
- Maternal-child health.
- Reduction of addiction and substance abuse.
- Environmental health.
- Improved data quality for diverse and rural populations.
- Translation of health research, social science, and epidemiological data.
